1. Add your spices one at a time, tasting after each.
  2. Burnt toast can be salvaged with lots of butter.
  3. Get a $3 apron. Seriously, it makes you feel like a pro (which means that the food tastes better already).
  4. Grow your own garden for ingredients; it makes you become more choosy about screwing dishes up.
  5. Always put olive oil on a sandwich. The Italians do it and they know their “sangwitches”. heheh(that’s a shout-out, not a criticism).
  6. Watch cooking shows.
